Glade Spring, VA- Addie Brannon Henderson, age 98, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, daughter of the late Robert Cummings Brannon and Etta Hopkins Brannon. She moved to Glade Spring in 1949 and lived in the same house until her death. Mrs. Henderson was a member of Byars Cobbs United Methodist Church and of the Ladies Guild. She was also a founding member of the Glade Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting and making afghans, and much of her handiwork was either given away or raffled as part of fundraising activities by the Senior Center. Mrs. Henderson loved all flowers, most especially violets. She was the oldest and last surviving of five children born to her parents. In addition to her parents and siblings, Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her husband, K.B. Henderson. Survivors include her son, A.K. Henderson of Kingsport, TN; her daughter, Christine Lewis of Glade Spring; grandchildren Anna Marie Skrinski, Lezlie Snodgrass, Bill Lewis, and Allan Anderson; and great-grandchildren Will and John Lewis and Jeremy Skrinski. The funeral service for Addie Henderson will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Paul Griffith officiating. The committal service and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery just prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
