Agnes R. Bird, age 98, of Bristol, Va. went to be with the Lord on Thursday January 14, 2016 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in Harlan County, KY, but resided in the Tri-Cities for the later part of her life.
Agnes enjoyed spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Agnes was a member of the Central Baptist Church; Abingdon, Va. reading her Bible and listening to the Gaithers was a daily pastime for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Nannie Bryant, husband Frank Bird, daughter Edie Alley, brothers Howard, Dink and Cooper Bryant, and sister Elizabeth Fargo.
She is survived by her son Walt Bird and wife Mary; brother James T. Bryant; sister Gladys Adams; grandchildren Andy Bird and wife Kellie, and Angie Hayden and husband Dennis; great grandchildren Kinsley and Braxton Bird, Justin Hayden and wife, Amber and Mary Katherine Hayden and husband Chris; and Hunter Hayden; great-great grandchild Paisley Hayden.
A funeral service for Agnes R. Bird will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday January 17, 2016 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral service with Pastor Les Ketron officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Andy Bird, Dennis Hayden, Justin Hayden, Chris Hayden and Hunter Hayden will serve as pall bearers.
The family would like to extend heartfelt special thanks to the staff at Bristol Regional Medical Center and Hospice for their wonderful care, support and prayers during Agnes illness.
