Albert Edison Dye, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born in Russell Co, VA on June 27, 1920, to the late Roy and Ida Dye. Albert and his wife have lived in Washington Co., VA since 1946. He was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church. Albert served in the United States Army-Air Force during WWII. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Sidney Dye and Edward Dye; and his sisters, Eileen Orfield and Jeanette Steele.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 51 years, Irene Casey Dye; two daughters, Debra Dye Poland and Dinah Dye Maguire; two brothers, Herbert Dye and Lawrence Dye; three grandchildren, Jason Dye, Joseph Gainey, and Donald Gainey; two great-grandchildren, Lander Gainey and English Gainey.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 21, 2010 at 8:00 pm in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Stan Green officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until the time of the service on Friday. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those wishing to go in procession from the funeral home to the cemetery are asked to be at Farris Funeral Service by 1:30 pm. Military honors will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Layton Gill, Rufus Casey, Rick Casey, Charles Fleenor, Will Galligher, David Casey, and Jason Dye. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Collins, Charles Casey, and William Casey.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Wellmont Hospice; Veterans Hospice staff; a very special Hospice nurse, Tracey Cullop; and their neighbors and many friends for the support and care shown during Albert's illness.
