Aleta Spicer, 77, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday evening. She lived in a house she loved, built by her grandfather, and played there at Christmas with her great grandchild.
She is survived by three generations of her close and loving family, and by innumerable friends and colleagues after a life spent in dedication to the lives of others. She was proud of a more than fifty-year career in public and social service, and rose each day with a sense of love and a commitment to her community, uplifting those around her and forging lasting and meaningful bonds with and between them.
An informal, public gathering will be held in remembrance at Greendale Fellowship Hall at 17468 Rich Valley Rd, Abingdon, VA on the afternoon of March 2nd from 1 to 4 pm. There will be time for people to share special memories and visitors are encouraged to bring a written memory to leave with the family.
