Abingdon, VA – Alex Jackson Browning, age 99, passed on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Valley Health Care Center. Mr. Browning was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired welder, and attended the Bristol Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Fannie Strouth Browning; wife, Beulah Nunley Browning; grandson, Chad Clarke; and six siblings.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Browning-Weiman and husband Robert of Laguna Hills, CA and Betty Jo Browning of Abingdon, VA; son, Alan Jackson Browning of Marietta, GA; grandson, Brandon Alex Browning; great grandson, Kailyn Carter Browning; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 2-3 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2017, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. John E. Massey, Jr. officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia Army National Guard. It was Mr. Browning’s wish to be cremated following the service.
