Alice Lucille Montgomery Snead

Alice Lucille Montgomery Snead, age 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in McDowell County, W.Va. born April 23, 1928, to the late William Montgomery and Martha Davis Montgomery.

Her family moved to a small farm in Washington County, Va. in 1935. On August 1, 1947, she married the love of her life, Ernest Epperson Snead. They were married for 60 years until the death of Ernest on April 14, 2008.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Snead of Abingdon, and Judy Vermillion (Sherman) of Abingdon, as well as several nieces, nephews, and special friends, Alice Hodge, Susie McConnell, and special cousin, Mary Ann Gillespie.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ralph Montgomery, Bobby Montgomery, Billy Montgomery, and Revonda Hollandsworth.

Lucille was a generous and loving mother whose love and devotion to family were unsurpassed. She lived by and often quoted the ‘Golden Rule’, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” She was of the Christian faith and attended Greendale Chapel in Abingdon, Va.She worked hard to provide for her family.

She loved growing and preserving her garden harvests. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her family.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 2:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, located at 19415 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, Va. 24210. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel following the visitation. Services will be conducted by Rev. Jerry A. Eggers. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
