Damascus, VA - Angel Danielle Collins Boyd, age 25, passed on Monday, August 31, 2015, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident while traveling in Texas. Angel was a dear sister, beloved daughter, and amazing aunt. Her laughter was infectious and will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. Sharing a birthday with her beloved neice, Erin, was a pride she exuded gladly. She was a retired Senior Airmen of the United States Air Force having served as part of security forces for four years. Angel completed her basic training and tech school at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and was later stationed at Altus, OK, Colorado Springs, CO, and served in Afghanistan. Angel recently moved to Damascus to live with her sister, Amber, and niece, Erin. She enjoyed reading murder mystery novels, traveling, especially to Washington, D.C., performing various charity work, and collecting police and Michael Jackson memorabilia. She is preceded in death by her brother, Aaron Collins, and paternal grandmother, Clara Belle Collins. Angel is survived by her husband, Matthew Linus Boyd, United States Air Force, of Colorado Springs, CO; mother, Pamela Evans Hawkins and husband Sam of Abingdon, VA; father, Shirley “Lun” Collins of Glade Spring, VA; three sisters, Amber Collins Holbrook and husband Fredrick of Damascus, VA, Lisa Marie Bawgus and husband Damon of Johnson City, TN, and Laura Lee Moore and husband Clint of Gainesville, VA; maternal grandmother, Frances Orett Evans of Saltville, VA; nieces, Erin Holbrook, Eve Holbrook, Alexis Moore, and Autumn Moore; nephews, Clint Moore and Jacob Moore; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. James Walls officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Highland Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
