Ann Kiser Colley, born May 11, 1922, at the family home in Russell County, Virginia, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015, at English Meadows in Abingdon, Virginia. Ann attended Washington County Schools and graduated from the former Johnston Memorial School of Nursing. She served in the Army Nurse Corps as 2nd Lieutenant during WW II. She continued her career in nursing at Johnston Memorial Hospital as Director of Continuing Nursing until retirement. She was an instructor trainer in CPR and for a time worked with others offering free CPR training at schools and other locations in the area, including training in her home for family and friends. She was a longtime member of Abingdon Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She loved gardening and outdoor activities. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Dudley Colley; grandson Todd Kiser; brother, H.C. Kiser Jr.; and her parents, Hiram and Dacy Kiser. She is survived by her son, Dickie Kiser and daughter-in-law Patty Kiser; sister -in-law Grace Kiser; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Ann Kiser Colley will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Pallbearers will be Donald Hagy, Marvin Tate, Mike Kiser, Fred Howard, Dave Johnson, and Brian Wampler. Military honors will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
