Ann Louise Lester

Glade Spring, VA - Ann Louise Lester, age 90, passed away on September 8, 2022, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 24, 1931, to Ernest and Viola Lester. Ann was employed at Burlington Industries prior to its closing and later at Buster Brown of Chilhowie, retiring after more than 30 years. Ann was a faithful member of Old Glade Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. Ann will be remembered for her generosity and her devotion to church and family. She enjoyed preparing delicious home-cooked meals with her sisters. There was always a hot meal for the farm family as well as those who knew to “stop by” around 11:30.

What a glorious reunion in heaven as she was reunited with those who preceded her in death: in addition to her parents, her sisters, Martha Lester, Lucille Kelly, Agnes Lester, and Bea Mason and brothers, Roland Lester, J. G. Lester, Fred Lester, and Scott Lester, all of Glade Spring, as well as infant siblings Andrew and Elizabeth.

Ann is survived by her sister June Lester of the home; nephews Randy (Janet) Lester, Butch Lester, Jason (Cristie) Lester, Allen (Carolyn) Kelly; great nieces and nephews Jacob Lester, Meagan (Travis) Brannon, Jonathan Kelly and Brooke Higgins; sisters-in-law JoAnn Lester, Linda Lester and Peggy Lester, and niece Tammy Parks.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2022, in Old Glade Presbyterian Church with Reverend Tim Bird officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Randy Lester, Jake Lester, Butch Lester, Jason Lester, Alan Kelly and Wayne Ratliff serving as pallbearers.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations are suggested to the Cemetery Fund at Old Glade Presbyterian Church.
