Abingdon, Va. – Annabelle Dean Keener, age 94, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Annabelle was born in Oklahoma and lived in many locations before moving to Emory, VA in 1972 from Tullahoma, TN. She worked as a secretary for over 30 years during which time she was employed by Boeing and Emory & Henry College. Annabelle was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church and loved butterflies.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil K. Dean and Ethel Mae Parrott; husband, Wilbur Eugene Keener; daughter, Sharon Annette Shliep; and brother, H.W. “Bill” Dean.
Annabelle is survived by one daughter, Beverly J. Keener of Abingdon, VA; three sons, John W. Keener of Eden Prarie, MN, Gary D. Keener of Orem, UT, and Douglas R. Keener of Riverside, CA; brother, Donald L. Dean of Wichita, KS; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Robert Countiss officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2017, in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, TN Rev. Rickey Wade officiating.
