Anne Broyles Ellis

Glade Spring, VA- Anne Broyles Ellis, age 91, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, VA. She was born to the late J.A. and Josephine Broyles on July 10, 1923 in Washington County, VA. She retired from Hound Ears Lodge and Club in Blowing Rock, NC and then made her home in Glade Spring, VA. She was a member of Byars-Cobb Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. She was the last survivor of nine children. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Catherine Broyles of Abingdon, VA; nephew, Danny Broyles and wife Donna of Glade Spring, VA; niece, Karen Broyles Swiney and husband Preston of Laurinburg, NC; two great nieces, Dana Broyles-Hutton and husband Brian of Lighthouse Point, FL and Kelsey Swiney of Knoxville, TN; and two great nephews. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 at Byars-Cobb Memorial United Methodist Church, 106 Kirkwood Street, Glade Spring, VA 24340. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the church with the Reverend Paul T. Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery where pallbearers will be selected from friends of the family.
