Annette Widener, 76, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on February 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Originally from Abingdon, VA, Annette was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her two children, Karyn Statzer and Weston (Angela) Statzer; her four cherished grandchildren, Oscar, Augustus, Lilly, and Wes; brother, Jerry Widener; and sister, Phyllis Wagner.
Annette's warmth and compassion touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She was a dedicated worker, a thoughtful friend, and a beloved member of her church community. Her kindness was a constant presence, and she was always there to support family and friends in need.
Annette found joy in gardening and travelling, always dreaming of her next adventure. Some of her happiest memories were made at the beach and during her time in Montana, places that brought her immense peace. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She delighted in taking them to thrift stores and cheering them on at their basketball games.
Known for her flair for fashion, Annette enjoyed dressing up for any occasion, and her beautiful blue eyes would light up when she smiled. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace. Annette will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Chaplain Danny Thompson officiating.
