Abingdon, Va. Avery Edward Bartley, born May 19, 1931, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family, on November 27, 2015. He was born to the late Euna Salyers of Coeburn, Va. He retired as a coal miner in 1977 and moved to Abingdon in 1979, where he lived with his loving wife of 60 years, Wilma Bartley. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind four children, sons Avery Edward Bartley, Jr. and wife Sharon, Ricky Bartley and wife Becky, Jerry Bartley and wife Crystal, and daughter Connie Fleming, all of Abingdon. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many special friends, including his faithful puppy Poo. A funeral service for Avery Edward Bartley will be held at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2015 with Pastor Adam Wise officiating. The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Entombment will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Travis Fletcher officiating. Richard Neis, Billy Roberts IV, Dustin Howell, Travis Fletcher, Brandon Self and Logan Matney will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Chad Bartley.
