Barbara A. Baldwin

Barbara A. Baldwin, age 82 of Abingdon, VA, peacefully departed this life for an everlasting one on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, surrounded by her loving daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law. Barbara was born on June 19, 1934 to Cornell and Vilma Vasian at Logan, WV. She grew up in Logan, WV, where she attended school, graduating from Logan High School in 1952. Barbara attended West Virginia University where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Barbara enjoyed activities with her family, membership in the book club, gardening, and rooting on her beloved W.V.U. Mountaineers. She was a member of the Old Glade Spring Presbyterian Church where she was supported by many friends and her minister, Reverend Timothy Bird.
Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Lisa Harrison and her husband, Nathan of Sale Creek, TN, her son, Robert L. (Bud) Baldwin and his wife, Susan, of Chapmanville, WV, and her niece, Jayne Hazleton of Durango, CO. Grandchildren include: Allison and Rock Pedigo, Bryn and Nathan Harrison, and Will, Beth, and Rob Baldwin. She had one great-grandchild, Luce Harrison. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bob Baldwin, her parents, Vilma and Cornell Vasian, and her sister, Betty Blair.
The funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. with Rev. Timothy Bird officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Old Glade Spring Presbyterian Church, 33234 Lee Hwy., Glade Spring, VA 24340.
