Barbara Kay Whitt Lively, age 55, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at her residence. She was born in Buchanan County, Virginia and had lived most of her adult life in Abingdon. Barbara was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and enjoyed going to church and revivals whenever she was able. She liked to crochet and cook. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and Barbara’s favorite thing was spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Haven Charles and Willie Mae Boyd Charles; her first husband, Danny Whitt; two sisters, Linda Justice and Judy Justice; and brother Lee Charles. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Jessica Alexander and husband Charles, and Patricia Whitt and husband Maverick Ward; her current husband, Danny Lively; four grandchildren: Charlie Alexander, Rebecca Alexander, Keirstan Self and Tyler Self; sisters: Dorothy Pannell, Sylvia Trammell, Diane Hale and Evelyn Green; brothers Walter Charles and Calvin Charles; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Barbara Kay Whitt Lively will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Pastor Garry Ferguson and Pastor Danny Hess will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at the Forest Hills Chapel.
