Mr. Bernard Perry Hancock, 75, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016, at Wellmont Hospice House. He was born in Washington County, Va., and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Hancock worked at Kerns Bakery for 34 years and was currently working at Omni Care. He enjoyed working and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald Hancock and Dorothy Perry Hancock; and a brother, R. D. Hancock.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Hancock; sons Michael Hancock and wife Beth, Gary Heath and Tony Heath, all of Bristol, Va., and Jamie Heath of Belfast, Va.; daughters Brenda Legard of Crozet, Va., and Angela Hancock of Bristol, Va.; special son-in-law, Tommy Legard of Crozet, Va.; sister Donna Hancock Shook of Willis, Va.; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mr. Bernard Perry Hancock will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Josh Davis officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. The committal service and burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Brad Davis officiating,where Alvin Mutter, Mike Grubb, Stevie Lester, Eddie Wilburn, Chris Arnold, and Robert Weaver will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends attending the committal service are invited to gather at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.
