Bernice J. Dunn

Abingdon, VA - Bernice Jones Dunn, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Johnston Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Saltville, Virginia on March 17, 1931, to the late Roy and Grace Crabtree Jones.  Mrs. Dunn was a graduate of Rich Valley High School and a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church. 

Bernice was a secretary at Olin-Mathieson Chemical Corp. in Saltville, executive secretary at Virginia House Furniture in Atkins, church secretary at Bristol Baptist Church and at Abingdon United Methodist Church, where she talked fondly of the Response-Lake Perry Circle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marce Odis Dunn.

She leaves behind her sister, Carole Colley and husband Al of Suwanee, GA; her two daughters, Vicki Montgomery and husband Jim of Saltville, Virginia, and Melissa Osborne of Savannah, Georgia; one granddaughter, Becky Arnold and husband Dave of Roanoke, Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and David Arnold of Roanoke, Virginia; and nephews, Will Colley of Atlanta, GA, and Wes Colley of Madison, AL.  The family would like to extend special thanks to Sherri Boardwine for her care and friendship.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023, in Knollkreg Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Seay officiating.  A reception with the family will follow in the Abingdon United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Abingdon United Methodist Church, 101 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210, in Mrs. Dunn’s name.
