Bessie "Josie" Gobble

Bessie “Josie” Gobble, 72, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 in Johnston Memorial Hospital. Josie was a native of Washington County, Va. and was of the Christian faith. While she was able to work, she was employed in healthcare in North Carolina. She enjoyed all types of crafts and had several pen pals with whom she loved to communicate. Josie was predeceased by her husband Robert Eugene “Red” Gobble; her parents Shear and Susan Harless Sullins; granddaughter Tabitha Gobble; and brother Sammy Sullins. She is survived by two step-sons, Robbie Gobble and wife Diana of Abingdon, and Matthew McCoy and wife Samantha of Meadowview; three daughters, Goldia Roberts and husband Bill of Linwood, NC, Mary Booher of Abingdon, and Jennifer Denton and husband Heath of Bristol, Tenn.; two brothers, Elmer Wise and Thomas Wise both of Abingdon; five sisters, Carolina MacAllister of Crozet, Va., Lue Murray, Gay Wise, Christine Wright and Becky Hudler, all of Abingdon; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Bessie “Josie” Gobble will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Junior Gobble officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Allen Wright, Brandon Gobble, Mark Gobble, John Curtis McCoy, Jamie Sullins and Trey Widner will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the funeral home.
