Betty Jo Deel

Bristol, VA - Betty Jo Ramey Deel, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and husband on May 7, 2014. Mrs. Deel was born in 1930 and raised in Buckeye Hollow in Buchanan County. She moved to Bristol, VA in 1979 where she lived the remainder of her life. Mrs. Deel belongs to the Old Regular Baptist Church. She was proceeded in death by her husband Willie Kermit Deel; a daughter Andrea Christine Deel; two infant sons Jimmy Ted and Brian Keith Deel; a daughter-in-law Mrs. Mary Ann (Bruce) Deel of Bristol, VA; parents James H. (Jim) Ramey and Grace Syphers Ramey Cron; and a sister, Donna Helton of Pikeville, KY. Mrs. Deel is survived by her daughter, Mitzi G. Deel Tiller McClanahan, and her son, Bruce W. Deel, both of Bristol, VA; two brothers, James D. “JD” Ramey of Frenchburg, KY, and Bruce (Boots) Ramey of OH; sister, Rosemary Bowman of Frenchburg, KY; four grandchildren, Caroline (Keith) Tabor, Lea Ann (Jonathon) Wilson, Travis M. Tiller, and Tiffany S. (Jon) Salley; two great grandchildren, Alex and Nic Tabor; step great granddaughter, Amanda Tabor; two step great-great grandchildren, Brayden and Bentley Tabor; honorary granddaughter, Amanda Shea O’quinn; and many, many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Deel was a loving daughter, sister, wife and grandmother. She was a foster mother to many small children and took many others under her wing and into her heart. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher. Mrs. Deel enjoyed cooking and caring for her family and home. She loved to read and her Bible was her favorite. Mrs. Deel also loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Betty and Kermit were married for 63 years and shared an incredibly close and loving relationship that left an imprint on all who witnessed their special bond. He cherished her and Betty knew “that the Lord gave that man to her”. Together they shared this love unconditionally with everyone they encountered. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Elder Jackie Church officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
