Betty Joe Widener Whaley

Betty Joe Widener Whaley, a 56-year resident of Washington County, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, with her family close by. She was born April 7, 1952, to the late Melton Widener, Sr. and Elizabeth Kate Patrick Widener. Betty worked at Bristol Lingerie for 11 years and was a loving mother and grandmother for almost 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Charlie H. Whaley; and brother, Melton “June” Widener, Jr.Betty is survived by her son, Andy Whaley; daughter, Charlotte Helbert and fiancé Chis Worley; brother, Curt Widener; sister, Debbie Harrison and husband, Dean; step-sister, Kelly Hemming and husband, Tom; three grandchildren, Zach, Hannah, and Hattie Helbert; several nieces and nephews; and furry companions, Buttercup and Boots.
A funeral ceremony will be held at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Coonley officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Knollkreg Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
