Betty Lou Ramey

Abingdon, VA – Betty Lou Raines Ramey, age 76, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at NHC in Bristol, VA, following an extended illness. She was surrounded by her loving family to the very end. Mrs. Ramey was born in Dickenson County, VA and had lived most of her life in Grundy, VA and later moved to Bristol and Abingdon, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lessie Viers Raines; grandparents, Wiley and Louisa Viers and Jason and Martha Raines; brother-in-law, Freddy B. Cook, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Left to mourn her passing is her husband of 57 years, George “Bill” Ramey; son, Donald Ramey and wife Gail of Lebanon, VA; grandsons, Christopher Ramey and wife Lori and their daughter, Madison Grace Ramey, all of Roanoke, VA; grandson, Carey Ramey of Washington, D.C. and fiancé Rachel Ann Kelley; five siblings, Sue Cook, Wanda Shepard, and Garry Raines, all of Bristol, TN, Eula Skeens of Bristol, VA, and Sandy Gibson of Kingsport, TN; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, and cousins remain to remember and honor Betty. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210, with Scott Million officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. just prior to the service. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6th at the Serenity Gardens Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
