Abingdon, VA – Betty Lou Stout Shortt, age 79, passed on Thursday, January 26, 2017, in Jefferson City Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson City, TN. Betty was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Shortt; son, William Edward “Tiger” Shortt, II; brother, Roy Stout; and sister, Mary Evelyn Jackson.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Dunlop and husband Scott of Mt. Juliet, TN; sisters, Pauline Scott of Abingdon, VA and Camilla Green of Bristol, VA; grandchildren, Lauren Smith and husband Chris, and Evan Dunlop; great grandchildren, Miles Smith and Copelin Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Bob McCormick officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
