Betty Marie Comer Ramey

Betty Marie Comer Ramey, 88, of Abingdon passed away smiling in the arms of Jesus on Friday, March 15, 2024. She was born in Seaboard, Virginia to the late Joseph and Willia Mae Dishman Comer. Those left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted husband of 64 years Claude Ramey; three children: Kimberly (Scott) Sams, Joseph (Vivian) Ramey, and Pamela (Tony) Malone; grandchildren Savanna (Mitchell) Blevins, Nicholas Ramey, Colbey Britt, Tanner Lloyd, Magan Ramey and Kaeli Sams; great-grandchildren Brayden, Madelyn, and Mazzy; and two sisters Joann (Robert) Branham and Linda (Coy) Taylor. 

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved nothing more than to tell everyone of their accomplishments. Before moving to Abingdon, she attended Garden Creek and Big Branch Church of Christ where she was very involved. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, helped with the nursery, and devoted her time to the church. She made sure her children were raised knowing the love of Jesus. In her later years, Betty was a member of First Christian Church of Abingdon. She gained many sweet friendships during her time there. Betty loved traveling with her husband Claude. She particularly enjoyed taking the back roads and finding new little country stores to explore. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, reading, crocheting, and shopping. Betty was blessed to have two loving sisters. The three girls lost their parents at a young age and Betty shared a very special bond with Joann and Linda. They talked nearly every day. If you knew Betty, you saw that she never knew a stranger. Betty was a true friend to everyone. 

The family requests a visitation on March 20, 2024, starting at 12:00 PM until the time of services at 1:00 PM at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Tom Crise officiating and with Mike Rife assisting. Entombment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum with Scott Fisher officiating. 

The pallbearers will be Nicholas Ramey, Colbey Britt, Tanner Lloyd, Brayden Blevins, Jordan Widener, JT Wingard, Tyler and Connor Branham, Chad and Ryan Clevinger, and Austin Branham. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tony Malone, Scott Sams, Mitchell Blevins, Joe and Scott Branham, Mark Taylor.

There's a land that is fairer than day and by faith we can see it afar. For the Father waits over the way to prepare us a dwelling place there.
