Beulah Mae Sword, age 79, passed away on Friday May 13, 2016 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a long time resident of Abingdon. Beulah attended Shiloh Primative Baptist Church when her health permitted. However, she dedicated herself to reading her Bible daily. She loved gardening, flowers, yard sales and the beaches in Florida. But, most of all, she loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Mary Ellen Fields and her husband Johnnie Sword, Sr. She is survived by 6 sons; Larry and Rick Terry both of Castlewood, Billy Sword of Ocala, FL, Johnnie Sword, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Robert Sword of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Jerry Sword of Abingdon; daughter Caroline Boardwine of Lebanon, VA; brothers Carl Fields of Hickory, NC, Paul, Joe and James Fields all of Johnson City, TN; sisters Mary Horychata of Phoenix, AZ and Ruth Mabe of Bristol, TN; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and 5 beloved step children.
A funeral service for Beulah Mae Sword will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Elder Joel Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens; Lebanon, VA. Casket bearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM on Sunday May 15, 2016 at the funeral home.
