Billie Lester Cassell, age 77, of Mechanicsville, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Billie was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, and was an active member of the United Methodist Women having served two terms as president. She cherished the many friendships developed during that time. Billie enjoyed her grandchildren and was a very special part of their childhood. Their mutual love continued into adulthood.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank B. and Lillian R. Lester; brother, Jack Lester; and a special aunt, Lynn Minnick.
Mrs. Cassell is survived by her husband, Boyd Cassell; daughter, Karen (Larry) Hoard of Mechanicsville, Va.; son, Donald Cassell of Canton, Ga.; three grandsons, Michael (Elga) Hoard of Alexandria, Va.; Johnathan (Megan) Hoard of Richmond, Va.; and Russell Cassell of South Carolina; granddaughter, Sammy Jo Cassell of Canton, Ga.; six sisters-in-law, Jean, Ann, and Thelma Cassell, Nell Hartsock, Betty (Eddie) Daugherty, and Peggy Lester; also many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers and Rev. Thomas Lester officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.-10:50 a.m. Tuesday at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
