Bobby Ray Johnson, age 81, of Hayter’s Gap, Va. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at his home. He was born August 3, 1937, to the late Ted and Ruby Hill Johnson of Hayter’s Gap, Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Loudell Johnson, as well as two children, Sherry and Robbie. Bobby was retired from United Parcel Service and was a member of Wesley Chapel Church. He was also a member of the Clinch Mountain Volunteer Fire Department and Valley Rescue Squad.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Rick (Valarie) Johnson of Martin, Tenn.; Teddy (Kim) Johnson of Meadowview, Va. and Tim (Michelle) Johnson of Glade Spring, Va.; sister, Lovena Rosenbalm of Hayter’s Gap, Va.; niece, Vickie (Rick) Smith of Hayter’s Gap, Va.; eight grandchildren, who were the joy of his life, Jason Johnson, Nathan (Shawna) Johnson, Kailey Johnson, Justin (Camille) Johnson, Erica Johnson, Jarrod Johnson, Crystal (William) Cannon, and Brandon Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Carson, Kaedence, Ian, Brynnley, and Jaxon; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral ceremony will be held at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jason Nunley and Bro. Charlie McCamey officiating. A committal service will be held at Knollkreg Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. where Nathan Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Jason Johnson, Justin Johnson, Jarrod Johnson and Rick Smith will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Tweed, UPS Retirees, Members of Clinch Mountain Fire Department, and Members of Valley Rescue Squad. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to convene at the funeral home on Wednesday by 10:45 a.m. to travel in procession. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Southwest Virginia and the multiple caregivers who have provided great care during this most difficult time. The family will receive friends any time at the home.
