Bobby Lewis Sherrill

Abingdon, VA – Bobby Lewis Sherrill, age 82, passed on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Johnson City Medical Center. Bobby was born in Hickory, NC to the late Lewis and Faye Ruth Poovey Sherrill and was a Graduate of St. Stephen’s High School. After graduating high school, Bobby attended North Carolina State University and the University of Tennessee. 

Upon earning his mechanical engineering degree, he moved to Kingsport and began his career at Eastman Chemical Corp. where he was employed for over 30 years before his retirement. Bobby was very active. He enjoyed hiking, biking, lifting weights, skiing and fly fishing. In the late 90’s, Bobby and Anna moved to Abingdon where he was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Jo Hurley Sherrill; stepdaughter, Lisa Hamilton and husband Bobby of Denver, CO; and brother, Allen Sherrill.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Pleasant View Global Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara Farmer and Rev. Dan Gray officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
