Brenda Boyd Lawson

Abingdon, VA – Brenda Arlene Boyd Lawson, age 80, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 20, 2025, in Erwin, TN. Brenda was born in Meadowview, VA and raised in Pulaski County, VA where she graduated from Dublin High School. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 45 years and was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Vaughn Boyd and Audrey Marie Martin Boyd; husband, Albert Thurman Lawson, Sr.; and brother, Franklin H. Boyd.

Brenda is survived by three children, Albert “A.J.” Lawson, Jr. and wife Charlotte “Janie” of Abingdon, VA, Anthony Todd Lawson and wife Lisa of Andrews, TX, and Tammy Lawson Larkey and husband Eric of Johnson City, TN; two brothers, Harry Lee Boyd and wife Connie, and Steve Boyd and wife Vickie; seven grandchildren, Cody Thompson and wife Rachel, Adam Larkey and wife Katie, Rebekah Taylor Lawson White and husband Brycen, Sarah Grace Larkey, Jacob Lawson, Albert “Ethan” Lawson, Emily Lawson, and Jaheim Nelson; four great grandchildren, Rafferty Thompson, Carter White, Tennison Thompson, and Connor White; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Curtis Hurt officiating.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the healthcare professionals of Johnston Memorial Hospital, Johnson City Medical Center, Christian Care of Unicoi County, Center on Aging and Health, Fresenius Kidney Care, Lincare, and Amedisys Hospice Care for their wonderful care of Mrs. Lawson.
