Brenda Sue Oliver Spiva, age 64, a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA, went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2014 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born to Tom Oliver and Betty Linburg Oliver on February 13, 1949 in Bristol, VA. She was of the Baptist faith and attended both Damascus Road Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church. She was an LPN at Bristol Regional Medical Center for 30 years.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Hobart Franklin Spiva, Sr.; two sons, Scottie Shelley of Columbia, SC and Hobart Franklin Spiva, Jr. and wife Melissa of Abingdon, VA; three daughters: Peggy Fields of Abingdon, VA; Santana Spiva of the home; and Amanda Sanchez-Diaz and husband Ricky of Elk Creek, VA; three brothers: Bill Oliver and wife Sherrie of Bristol, VA; Mike Oliver and wife Helen of Bristol, TN; and Ronnie Oliver of Bristol, VA; sister, Linda Oliver of MI; and six grandchildren, Carlos Flores, Tony Flores, Qui Que Sanchez, Jose Sanchez, Sabrina Fields, and Brandi Fields.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13th at the funeral home with the Reverend Stan Anderson officiating. A committal service will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Dennis Arnold, Dave Blankenship, Doug McCracken, Brian Mock, David Thomas, and Jason Walker will serve as pallbearers. Chris Oliver, Chris Oliver, and Ottie Thomas will serve as honorary pallbearers.
