Brent Eugene Lockhart, age 59, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. He was born to George Lockhart and Karen Collins Lockhart in Havre, Montana. Brent was Professor of Anatomy and Physiology as well as Microbiology at Northeast State Community College and was a member of Highlands Fellowship Abingdon Campus. He was passionate about being in the classroom and sharing the Gospel with his students. Brent unabashedly shared his faith with others and would say to those of us left behind, “Stay strong in your faith so I will see you again.” Brent was also a lifelong sports fanatic who enjoyed coaching his children in baseball, softball, and basketball.
In addition to his parents, Brent is also survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Annette Gillespie Lockhart; two sons, Joshua Cade Lockhart and Caleb Tristan Lockhart; daughter, Hannah Isabelle Lockhart, all of the home; sister, April McAdoo and husband, Roger, of Tyler, Texas; four nieces; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at the Highlands Fellowship Abingdon Campus with Pastor Allen Jessee officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m at the church.
