Bryan Anthony Miller passed away unexpectedly at home in Abingdon, Virginia, on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. He left this world just as quickly as he entered into it on November 19th, the day he was born. Bryan was a kind and loving son, grandson, nephew, and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his granddad and namesake, Bryan Gentry, his father Anthony Miller, and many special family members. Bryan is survived by his mother, Kathy Gentry; grandmother, Betty Gentry, better known as “Nanny;” aunt, Karen Radnoczi and her husband, Terry; lifelong friend and “brother” Eddie Wilson; a special “sister” Denise Perkins; and his devoted black lab, Bullz. Many close family members and friends who have touched his life are also left behind.
Bryan was a graduate of Abingdon High School and attended Radford University as well as Virginia Highlands Community College. During his college years, he discovered his love of cooking while working in the restaurant industry. He was a longtime employee and head cook of the Washington County Moose Lodge. There he was not only an excellent cook but made many friends who became like family.
Bryan loved listening to music, trips to the beach, and being by the ocean. He loved putting on spectacular fireworks shows on the 4th of July, and he was a true-blue fan of the North Carolina Tarheels. Watching Dale Earnhardt, Sr. with Granddad when he was just young would spark a lifelong passion for NASCAR racing and collecting memorabilia from his favorite drivers. He was well known for his good-natured pranks and practical jokes and will always be remembered for the laughs he shared, his mischievous grin, and his warm and wonderful smile.
Bryan was a member of Pleasant View Church in Abingdon, Virginia, where the family will receive visitors from 3:00-5:00 on Sunday, October 22, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Barbara Farmer and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. A graveside service and burial will be at Forest Hills Memory Gardens at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023. Pallbearers are Richard Green, Matt Lewis, John Marshall, Shawn McClanahan, Rick Murray, and Eddie Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Casey Bratton, Denise Perkins, Joe and Brenda Varney, David and Lisa Foglesong, Jamie Widener, Chris Bland, John Garrett, John Armbrister, Matty Watts, Mark and Cassidy Sullivan, Barbara Moore, and the rest of his Washington County Moose family.
