Bristol, Va.- Bryant Wayne Rush, age 88, of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2019, at his home.
Wayne was born January 4, 1931 in Bristol, VA to the late, Robert Bryant Rush and the late, Delia Murray Rush. He graduated from Valley Institute High School, Bristol, VA in 1949. Wayne retired from Raytheon Manufacturing in Bristol with 35 years of service and was a long-time member of Fellowship Chapel where he taught the Berean Sunday School Class for over forty years. He loved working in his large vegetable garden and spending time with family and friends. Wayne was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Besides his parents Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-seven years, Eva Tate Rush; sister, Martha Rush Denny; brother’s-in-law, Otho Denny and Frank Barrett. Wayne is survived by two sons, Tim Rush of the home and Todd Rush and wife, Emily of Meadowview, VA; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katheryn, Ben, Daniel, Ruthie, Joseph, Rachel, Rebekah, and Seth; sisters, Faye Barrett of Meadowview, VA and Linda Shumaker of the home; brothers, Allen Rush and wife, Becky of Meadowview, VA and Emmett Rush and wife, Virginia of Piney Flats, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 am Monday, July 1, 2019 in the mausoleum chapel of Mountain View Cemetery of Bristol, VA with Pastor Scott Price officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am. Pallbearers will be Ben Rush, Daniel Rush, Joseph Rush, Mark Denny, Andy Shumaker, Gary Kestner, and Marty Trammell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Boardwine, Jerry Vincill, and the members of the Berean Sunday School Class of Fellowship Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 30, 2019 in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service from 3-5 pm.
