Carl Roberts Houser

Abingdon, VA Mr. Carl Roberts Houser, age 85, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Grace Healthcare in Abingdon. He was lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., son of the late John R. and May Osborn Houser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Houser served in the United States Navy in Korea and then worked as a carpenter building houses. He enjoyed gardening and raising bees. He attended Woodland Baptist Church. Mr. Houser is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vivian Houser; son Allan Houser of Abingdon; daughter Sharon Mihalsky and husband Marc of Mobile, Al.; grandchildren Brooke Hopkinson of Mobile, Al; Kaitlyn Houser and Weston Houser, both of Saltville, Va.; and great-grandchildren Morgan Hopkinson, Michael Hopkinson, Matthew Hopkinson, and Noah Hopkinson, all of Mobile. The funeral service for Mr. Carl Houser will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Bob McCormick officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, where honorary pallbearers will be Allan Houser, Marc Mihalsky, Wayne Houser, Johnny Roark, Kenneth Wilson, and Danny Roark.
