Carl William Alexander, 80, passed away January 26, 2019 at Grace Healthcare in Abingdon, Va. He was born in Washington County, Va. to the late John Henry Alexander and Mary Kimberlin Alexander. He was retired from General Engineering Company with 20 years of service. He enjoyed making walking canes, loved to ride his bike on the Creeper Trail, and to hunt and fish.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Richard Alexander and Caney Alexander, and one sister Juanita Carwile.
Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years Levonda Alexander; his son Tommy Alexander and wife Libby of Abingdon; daughter Trish Alexander-Bott and boyfriend Preston Cardwell of Abingdon; granddaughter Brittany Alexander Griffith and husband Richard of Abingdon; brothers, Clyde Alexander and wife Debbie of Glade Spring, Dan Alexander of Glade Spring, Loyde Alexander and wife Carolyn of Damascus, and Ralph Alexander and wife Brenda of Rutherfordton, N.C.; sisters, Thelma Cannon of Abingdon, and Shirley Hurd and husband Marvin of Meadowview.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Rick Cuddy officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Eddie Thomas, Jr., Mark Thomas, Richard Griffith, Jimmy McCray, Preston Cardwell, and Donnie Alexander. Honorary pallbearer will be Ronald Mink. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 6-8 pm in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Friends may visit at anytime at the home of Levonda Alexander, 584 Norfolk Street, Lot 17, Abingdon, VA 24210.
