Carol Ann (Mejeur) Rider was born on August 18, 1953, and she entered into an eternal sleep from aspiration pneumonia at 11:53pm on Friday, October 22, 2021, in Abingdon, Virginia.
She is survived by her three children: Heidi (Koch) Olsen, Holly (Koch) Schopfer, and Steven Griffith, and her six grandchildren.
Carol battled severe mental health challenges her entire life and her family would like to spread the important message and awareness that the unrelenting monitoring and caring for one’s own mental health is crucial for personal and family health and safety.
Many, many thanks are bestowed on the hardworking Jewish Family Services guardians and case managers, as well as the benevolent director and staff at Farris Funeral Home.
Carol lived her passion for the sea and sky by nearly always creating her residences near the coast and she also fulfilled her passion for the sky by working with aircraft and obtaining her private pilot’s license.
