Carolyn Beckham

Glade Spring, VA- Carolyn Rachel Parker Beckham, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born to the late Kelly Parker and Eva Hutton Parker on May 25, 1931 in Marion, VA. Carolyn owned and bred miniature poodles alongside her husband, Dick. Together they raised an International Champion and a British Champion. She was a member of the Marion Eastern Star Chapter 72 and had served as Worthy Matron. She attended Joy Baptist Church. Carolyn will always be remembered as a loving aunt and a beautiful person with an indomitable spirit. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Dale Parker; and sister, Geraldine Patrick. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Richard “Dick” Beckham; sister, Rita Parker Miller of Gallatin, TN; five nieces and nephews: Darrell Miller and wife Cathy of Gallatin, TN; Brenda Forbes and husband Pat of Blacksburg, VA; Jeff Parker and wife Leslie of Marietta, GA; Steve Patrick and wife Georgia of Rural Retreat, VA; and Joe Patrick and wife Bobbie of Charleston, SC; and six cousins, Roberta Jones, Ellen Garnett, Ted Parker, Robert Howard Hutton, Barbara Johnson, and David Wyatt. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13th at the Forest Hills Chapel with the Reverend Jay Overbay officiating. A private entombment will follow in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
