Abingdon, VA- Carroll David King, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at his home in Abingdon, VA. He was born April 20, 1941, in Abingdon to the late Edwin Carroll King and Mary Kate Farthing King. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he worked for Duke Power Co. in NC and SC, served as Town Engineer for Blacksburg, VA, as Manager of the Washington County Service Authority in Abingdon, and retired from the Bristol Virginia Utilities Board. He served as an Elder at Green Spring Presbyterian Church and as Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 70 for many years. He is survived by his former spouse, Nanci Curry King of Knoxville, TN; their children, Sean Wesley King and wife Lori of Beaverton, OR and Julie King Palmer and husband Chris of Knoxville, TN; his grandchildren, Sloan Palmer, Keegan Palmer, and Annmarie King; by brothers, Marcus King of Blountville, TN and Paige King and wife Jeanie of Salem, VA; and by his friend and companion, Norma Smith of Abingdon, VA. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jon Martin officiating. Pallbearers will be members of Boy Scout Troop 70. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Green Spring Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Boy Scout Troop 70, 22007 Green Spring Church Road, Abingdon, VA 24211.
