Carroll Gail Orfield

Carroll Gail Orfield, 58, died at his home on July 22, 2011.

Gail was born June 15, 1953. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Hazel Orfield and a sister-in-law Elizabeth Orfield. Gail was inducted into the Hall of Fame for truck drivers in 2001, and he was a crew chief on a KC-135 while in the Air Force. He was a foreign exchange student in France in 1972 and a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Meadowview, VA. He always had a big heart and would call just to say "Hi". He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gayle Ann Orfield; a daughter, Ginger Griffin and her husband Shane of Meadowview; a son Geoff Orfield of Vancleave, MS; a granddaughter Renee of Meadowview; a sister, Linda Crane and her husband Phil of Glade Spring; four brothers, Dwane of Bristol, VA, Glenn and his wife Barbara of Sunset Beach, SC, Conley Orfield of Meadowview and Mark Orfield and his wife Suzanne of Meadowview; along with several nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, dad, brother and friend.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 8:00 P.M. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Dr. Garland Thayer and Rev. Donald Thayer officiating.

The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service on Thursday from 6:00 7:45 P.M.

Committal services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 29, 2011 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, TN. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers are family and special friends. Military honors at the cemetery will be provided by V.F.W. Boone Dam Post 4933 and members of the Tennessee National Guard Honor Guard. Those attending the committal service are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
