Abingdon, VA – Catherine Peckham Walden, age 65, passed on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, in Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. Catherine grew up in Newburgh, NY where she graduated high school from Newburgh Free Academy. She earned her art degree from the University of Arizona and was a self-employed artist her entire adult life. Catherine lived in many areas of the country including Grand Junction, CO, Atlanta, GA, and Santa Fe, NM before moving to Abingdon where she owned and operated the Secret Garden Gallery. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Elizabeth Luttman Peckham. Catherine is survived by two daughters, Hannah Walden of Richmond, VA and Emily Walden of Knoxville, TN; brothers, Michael and Steve Peckham; sisters, Susan Jasinski, Geraldine Peckham, Jane Potts, Fran Kosko, Roberta Cleveland, and Anne Roslin; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018, in South Knoxville Baptist Church, 522 Sevier Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37920, with Pastor Greg Alderman officiating.
