Celia Josephine Dickenson passed peacefully from death to life on Friday, March 29, 2019, at her home in Lynchburg, Va. A native of Lebanon, Va., she was born on April 8, 1927.
Prior to moving to Lynchburg, Celia enjoyed an illustrious career in Washington D.C., receiving high praise for her honored service at the CIA.
Celia was preceded in death by both of her parents, Samuel and Bonnie Combs; all of her siblings (Lucy Stinson, Virginia Wise, Lacy Musick, Lelia Roberson, Lola Combs, Willie Combs, Roger Combs, Pat Combs, June Combs, Joe Combs, and Jack Combs); one grandchild, Stephen Robert Lawrie; and her husband of 36 years, Robert McNeer Dickenson, of Castlewood, Va.
Celia is survived by their two daughters, Celia Marie Babel and Susan Kay Lawrie; and two grandchildren, Christopher Lee Lawrie and Bonnie Anne Blankenship.
Family and friends will be received at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Friday, April 5, 2019,from 6:00-8:00PM. A funeral service service will be held there in the chapel on Saturday April 6, 2019 at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
