Charles H. Bordwine, age 76, of Emory, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born May 18, 1942, in Plasterco, Va. to the late Charlie King Bordwine and Katie Mae Bordwine. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Lowe’s after a lengthy career. Charles was of the Methodist faith. He was an avid golfer and UT football fan.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Bordwine; and two sisters, JoAnn Poston and Rosemary Mills.
He is survived by his loving companion of 25 years, Nany Lee Mink; daughter, Katherine Petko of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, John Bordwine and wife, Rosalee, of Chilhowie, Va. and Ed Bordwine and wife, Ann, of Saltville, Va.; sister, Vanessa Cannon and husband, Donnie, of Glade Spring, Va.; and two grandchildren, Charlotte Petko and John Marshall Petko; Nancy’s great niece, Delilah Crosswhite, and Nancy’s great-grandson, Walker Street, who were very special to Charles; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Wayne Poston and Rev. Kenneth Poston officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the United States Air Force. Chester Begley, Bobby Dingus, Les Heaton, Brandon Kegley, Russell Martin, Harold Reasor, and Gene Wise will serve as honorary pallbearers. A reception will be held at the funeral home following the service until 7:00 p.m.
