Charles Henry Simpson, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at his home. He was born to the late William Simpson and Delores C. Simpson on March 17, 1946 in Bristol, VA. He was a member of the 1965 graduating class of John F. Slater High School in Bristol, TN. He retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class having served his country for over 20 years with six terms in Vietnam. He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Bristol, VA.
He is survived by one son, Carl Simpson of GA; two brothers, William A. Simpson and wife Michelle of Bristol, TN and Timothy W. Simpson and wife Debra of Glade Spring, VA; two sisters, Ada Foster of Bristol, VA and Vivian Simpson of Raleigh, NC; one nephew, Kevin Foster of MD, and three nieces, Rochell Foster of Bristol, VA, 2nd LT Gwen Simpson, U.S. Army, and Naomi Simpson both of Glade Spring, VA.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Tim Bird officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1965 class of John F. Slater High School.
