Charles Jackson

August 24, 1948 — January 14, 2011

Charles "Fletcher" Jackson, born August 24, 1948 died unexpectedly on Friday, January 14, 2011 at his home. Heaven's gates opened wide to welcome one of His faithful, caring, humble and true servants.

He was a 1966 graduate of Patrick Henry High School and a 1968 graduate of Phillips Business College in Lynchburg, VA. He was drafted into the military in 1968 and served two years. He was a former employee of Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Bristol, VA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles F. Jackson, Sr., his paternal grandparents, Charles Oscar and Lou Ella Gallaher and maternal grandparents, Maynard Wayne and Virginia Peake Catron.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Hazel C. Jackson; sister, Darlene Duncan and husband, Fred; his precious nieces, who called him "Peppi", Brooke Ann Monahan and husband, Evan and Ashley Cannon and husband, Steven; his precious great niece and two great nephews, who he adored with all his heart and called him "TT", Payton Monahan, Aidan Monahan and Trajan "Trey" Cannon. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family also wants to thank James and Debbie Herring, James and Anne Yarber, and Raymond Roark for being such great friends and neighbors to him while living in Bristol, TN.

Funeral services for Fletcher Jackson will be conducted at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, January 16, 2011 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Dr. Darlene Litton officiating. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 3:00 until 4:45 P.M. Sunday.

Committal services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 17, 2011 at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon with Bonnie W. Lester officiating. Pallbearers will be Evan Monahan, Steven Cannon, Billy Rector, Wade Phipps, Freddie Bowers and James Herring. Honorary pallbearers are Don Rector, Mark Davenport and Jim Yarber. Those wishing to attend the committal may assemble at Farris Funeral Service by 12:30 P.M. Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 565, Glade Spring, VA 24340.
