Charlotte Ivalee Widener Roberts

Charlotte Ivalee (Widener) Roberts, 88, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 23, 1923, to the late Thomas Elmer and Lillie Cordella Widener. She was a lifelong resident of the Widener's Valley Community and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She loved to garden, and she especially loved her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bobby S. Roberts; three brothers: James, Herbert and Charles Widener; and four sisters: Opal Thomas, Roena Wolfe, Beatrice Montgomery and Laurie Gentry.
Charlotte is survived by one sister, Agnes Widener of Glade Spring; a special daughter-in-law and caregiver, Donna K. Roberts of the home; one son, Mike Roberts, his wife Judy, and their daughters Vickie, Suzzane and Brenda, all of Abingdon, VA; one grandson, Bobby Clayton Roberts of the home; granddaughters: Alma Widener and her husband Danny of Saltville, VA; and Penny Blackburn and her husband Ray of Glade Spring; ten great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Charlotte Roberts will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Doug Stidham officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Family members will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Virginia, 738 Park Avenue, Suite 3, Norton, VA 24273, or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen VA 23058-5216.
