Charlsie R. "Granny" Thompson, 73, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at her home.
She was born October 23, 1938 in Grayson County , VA ; was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was former owner of Charlsie's Kountry Kitchen. She was also a member of Glade Spring Life Saving Crew Auxillary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Flossie Walton Reedy; her husband, Nelson Thompson; a sister, Verna Belle McGrady and an infant son, William Joseph Thompson.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Thompson Stanley and husband, Dwayne of Glade Spring, Linda Casey and husband, Ricky of Abingdon; two sons, David Thompson and wife, Missie of Kernersville, NC, Johnny Thompson and wife, Kim of Dandridge, TN; three sisters, Ruth Reedy, Wilma Johnson and Nancy Burchett; one brother, Jerry Reedy; ten grandchildren, Joshua Thompson and fianc�© Toshia, Kandi Durachinsky, Kimberly Phillips and husband, Curtis, Jared Stanley and wife, Christina, Kayla Reynolds and husband, L.J., Niki Thompson, Whitney Casey and husband, Danny, Cortney Thompson, Garret Thompson and Hannah Casey; twelve great grandchildren and two to be born in 2012. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to extend special thanks to Hospice of Southwest Virginia for their care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Melvin Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday beginning at 6:00 P.M.
Committal services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Glade Spring Baptist Cemetery on Forest Hills Drive . Those who wish to go in procession to the graveside are asked to assemble at Glade Spring Life Saving Crew Hall at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Jared Stanley, Curtis Phillips, Ricky Casey, L.J. Reynolds, Daniel De Los Santos and Allen Stanley.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Glade Spring Life Saving Crew.
