Bristol, VA Mr. Chester Lee Mullins, age 89, passed away on Friday May 23, 2014, in the Christian Care Center of Johnson City, Tennessee. Mr. Mullins and his wife moved from Fairfax, VA in 1976 to become residents of the Bristol area, where he worked as a mechanic. He was an Army combat medic veteran during WWII and served his entire tour in the South Pacific. Mr. Mullins was a member of the Beulah Land Baptist Church. Mr. Mullins was predeceased by his parents, Robert Lee and Gracie Hill Mullins, and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Doris D. Mullins of the home; sons Terry Lee Mullins and wife Candi of TX and Wayne “Frank” Mullins and wife Cuba of NC; grandchildren Lee and Andrea Mullins of TX, Eric Mullins and wife Kelly of VA; step grandsons Josh Potter and wife Shannon and Justin Potter and wife Karrie, all of VA; special great-granddaughter Hannah Mullins; and step great-grandchildren Caleb and Megan Potter. A funeral service for Mr. Chester Lee Mullins will be held on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with Mr. Eric Godfrey and Mr. Reid Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm prior to the service at the Forest Hills Chapel. Entombment in the Serenity Gardens Mausoleum will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Pallbearers will be Lee Mullins, Eric Mullins, Herbert Toon, Okey Radford, J.R. Gilmer, Carlos Hess and Roger Robinson. Honorary bearers will be Bob Phillips and Ben Dyer. Military Honors will be presented by the Highlands Veteran's Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
