Mrs. Clarice Eugenia “Miss Pud” Anderson, age 82, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. She and her husband lived in Abingdon for a number of years, prior to her joining her daughter in Baltimore, MD and later Kingsport, TN. She was a member of the Valley Street Baptist Church, Abingdon, and also the First Church of the Brethren in Baltimore, where she served as the Minister of Music for a number of years. Family, friends, and all who encountered her will remember her for her beautiful singing voice. Miss Pud created a home where she loved her family. She was a mother, not only to her own children, but also a mother to the friends of her children. Miss Pud was a wonderful cook, and the home was often filled with those who wanted to share her food.
Eugenia was predeceased by her parents Sam Alexander and Paulita Wyms Snell, husband Edward Ray “Wink” Anderson, sons Tim and Garnett Anderson, and sister Elrica Parker. She is survived by her sons Charles Clifford “Chip” Anderson of Roanoke, Va., Melvin Maurice Anderson of Glade Spring, and Vincent Ray Anderson of Abingdon; daughter Vicky Colette Anderson of Kingsport, Tenn.; brother Paul Snell and wife Julie of Mocksville, N.C.; sister Georgia English and husband Bobby of New River, Va.; several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Willie Austin officiating. Casket bearers will be selected from friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, interment services will be held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
