Claude Allen Asbury, age 86, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 in Bristol, TN.
Born March 6, 1927 in Newhall, West Virginia, he worked for 36 years in the mining industry. He attended Bluefield State College where he studied electrical engineering. He was a resident of Washington County, Virginia for the past 55 years and was a member of the Abingdon Moose Lodge. He was a proud member of the Democratic Party and enjoyed campaigning on behalf of local, state and federal candidates.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Myrtle Asbury, and one brother, Dewey Asbury. He is survived by one sister, Ruth Young, and his children, Linda Keith and husband Robert Keith, Claudette Asbury, and Allen H. Asbury and wife Denise. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Ryan and Kayla Asbury.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum with interment to follow. Reverend David St. Clair will officiate.
