Claudie Fuller, 74, died Saturday August 29, 2009 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born January 5, 1935 in Haysi, Virginia to the late Byrd and Martha Fuller. He was preceded in death by 1 sister Georgie Fuller and 2 brothers Rual Fuller and Buddy Fuller.
Mr. Fuller is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Blanche; sons, Rockie and Carlie; brothers and sisters, Jack Fuller, Ervin Fuller, George Fuller, Arlene Deel, and Patsy Phillips; grandchildren, Jessica, Whitney, Anna, and Landon; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fuller was a member of Holston Regular Baptist Church. Claudie was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. While in Dickenson County, he worked as a coal miner and drove a coal truck. He owned several prosperous businesses, which he ran with the help of his wife. During the summer of 1979, Claudie and his family moved to Abingdon where he spent the remaining years of his life. He was a successful dog breeder and won several awards in local dog shows. He enjoyed hunting and visiting with his friends at their favorite meeting place, Burger King.
Claudie was saved and baptized on July 16, 2006. He will be missed by his family and everyone who knew him; but we find great peace in the promise that he is in Heaven with the Lord.
The funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 31, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Elders Annon Lee Cole and Jackie Church officiating. The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The committal service will be held Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the funeral home for the funeral procession by 11:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Deel, Robbie Deel, Jason Edwards, Kevin Edwards, Gary Fuller, Junior Gobble, and Scotty Owens.
