Ralph Clayton Clark, 64, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, at his home in Glade Spring, Virginia.
Clayton was born on October 4, 1959, in Warrington, Virginia. Clayton grew up with his brother, Jeff, in Alexandria, Virginia.
Clayton was preceded in death by his father, Tommy (T.T.) Clark.
Clayton leaves behind his wife, the love of his life, Donna Garner Clark, two children, Caleb Clark (and his fiancé, Cassie) of Glade Spring, Virginia, and Kelly Clark of Glade Spring, Virginia; his mother-in-law, June Garner, whom he affectionately called Bunny, also of Glade Spring, Virginia, and his beloved beagle, Cookie. Clayton also leaves behind his mother, Rose Cavaco (and husband, Roy), of Fisherville, Virginia, and his brother, Jeff Clark (and his wife, Cynthia), of Loudoun County, Virginia, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, a niece, and a nephew, all of whom he loved dearly.
Clayton was born on October 4, 1959. He graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in 1979. After graduating, Clayton began to work for the Fairfax County D.O.S.W. until he retired in 2009. Clayton’s strong work ethic didn’t leave him sitting for too long. Soon after retiring, Clayton began working again. At the time of his death, he was nearing his second retirement from driving a trash truck for Washington County. Clayton loved and was proud of his work.
Clayton and Donna were married on September 16, 1989. They enjoyed many years of marriage together.
Clayton loved to talk with anyone and everyone. He enjoyed talking about his fishing and hunting adventures and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He also loved reading his Bible in the evenings with his constant furry companion, Cookie. Clayton was a member of the First Assembly of God in Bristol, Virginia.
As much as Clayton loved to talk, he loved people and his family more. Clayton had never met a stranger. Meeting him was to gain a lifelong friend. He will be sorely missed by many. Although Clayton is no longer suffering from his brief battle with cancer, he leaves an open hole in all of our hearts.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday, July 13th at the First Assembly of God in Bristol, Virginia, at 11:00 am with Pastor Jeff Carico and Pastor Randall Atkins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to First Assembly of God’s building fund in memory of Clayton Clark. The family would like to thank the staff of Geneva Hospice of Wytheville, Virginia, especially Shannon, for caring for Clayton during his illness.
The family of Clayton Clark is being cared for by Farris Funeral Service & Crematory – Main Street Location, 427 E. Main Street, Abingdon, VA 276-623-2700.
